BTCCSquare news:

Russia is tightening oversight of cryptocurrency mining with the introduction of a national registry for mining equipment. The move aims to identify unregistered operations and enforce compliance in regions with high energy consumption from mining activities.

Authorities have already compiled the registry and distributed it to areas with significant mining operations. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Energy, the Federal Tax Service, and the Ministry of Digital Development, seeks to legalize the sector and ensure miners pay taxes proportionate to their electricity usage.

Deputy Energy Minister Petr Konyushenko emphasized the registry's role in regulatory enforcement, particularly in regions where mining is banned due to power constraints. The ban, effective since November, affects ten regions until March 2031.
